Managerial change didn’t bring a change  in results for Swansea City. Bob Bradley’s first match in charge of Swansea City ended in a somewhat expected defeat.

AFC Bournemouth                  6-1                Hull City

Charlie Daniels 5’                                         Ryan Mason 34’

In Mike Phelan’s first match after being officially announced as Hull City’s manager, his team was trashed by AFC Bournemouth. By the end of the half, Hull City was trailing Bournemouth by two goals in a 3-1 scoreline.

Bournemouth went on to score three more after the restart. Junior Stanislas scored two goals in this match. Stanislas scored the last goal of the first half and the opening goal for the second half for Bournemouth.

Manchester City                1-1              Everton

Nolito 72’                                                 Romelu Lukaku 64’

Two penalties awarded and domination in ball possession was not enough to stop Manchester City from dropping points in two consecutive matches.

Maarten Stekelenburg was no doubt the man of this match. Stekelenburg saved two penalties to deny Manchester City maximum points at home to Everton.

Stoke City                       2-0                 Sunderland

Joe Allen 8’ 45’+1’

It was no surprise that Stoke City got their first win of the season from another struggling side in the premier league.

614817140

Both teams were winless after 7 matches in the 2016/17 Premier League season. There couldn’t be a better time to get a first win of the season. With Stoke City playing at home and coming from an away draw against Manchester United, they carried a slight advantage. Two first half goals from Joe Allen gave Stoke a home win over Sunderland.

West Bromwich Albion                 1-1               Tottenham Hotspur

Nacer Chadli 82’ Dele Alli 89’

Tottenham Hotspur denied West Bromwich a win through a Dele Alli late goal, but  it was West Bromwich Albion who denied Tottenham a chance to climb to the summit of the Premier League table.

Crystal Palace                   0-1                West Ham United

Manuel Lanzini 19’

614830274

Christian Benteke missed a late penalty that could have equalized Manuel Lanzini’s 19th-minute winning goal for West Ham. West Ham has now picked up points from consecutive matches in the Premier League.

Middlesbrough              0-1           Watford

                                                            Jose Holebas 54’

Jose Holebas’s goal in the second half allowed Watford to pick up three points away at Middlesbrough.

On the balance of play, Middlesbrough did not deserve to lose this match. But football punishes those who don’t take chances.

Southampton                             3-1                 Burnley

Charlie Austin 52’ 66’(pen)                              Sam Vokes 72’(pen)

Nathan Redmond 61’

615031290

After a goalless first half, Southampton scored three goals in the space of 15 minutes to get maximum points at home against newly promoted Burnley.

October 17, 2016

Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

615202804

Neither did enough to deserve full points from this highly anticipated match. A draw was a fair point for the two.
