Newly-promoted Reims and Nimes are ‘bossing’ Ligue 1. – Round 2 of the 2018/19 French Ligue 1

Two matches into the season and PSG is picking up points while their title contenders are dropping points.

   

It was a consecutive ‘1-0’ wins for Reims as they start their Ligue 1 season with a 100% winning record. Pablo Chavarria scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd-minute to hand newly-promoted Reims a home victory over pre-tournament title contenders Lyon.

Paris St. Germain bounced back from a goal down to pick up another win in their title defense season.
Neymar’s tricks with the ball earned PSG a penalty to get their equalizing goal against Guingamp before Kylian Mbappe scored a late brace to secure all three points.

Monaco and Lille played out a goalless draw. 4 points each for both sides.

A late goal saved Nice from another league defeat while denying Caen from their first victory of the season. Rennes takes their first three points of the season at home against an Angers side the remains winless and pointless. Dijon scored another 2 goals to take another win by beating NantesA 10-man Saint-Etienne side pulled a point through a late goal at Strasbourg as both sided leave with a point.

Bordeaux conceded another 2 goals to suffer a consecutive league defeat while Toulouse gets their first win of the season in front of home fans.

After a thrilling 4-3 away victory against Angers in the opening round, newly-promoted Nimes secured another victory in Ligue 1 by beating Marseille 3 goals to 1 in the final match of the round.

Nimes victory in the final match of the round meant that both newly-promoted sides (Reims and Nimes) have started their season with 100% wins from two games. Both sides have also achieved this by beating a team that finished in the ‘top 4’ of the final league standings of 2017/18 season.
