Midweek football around Europe: Inter Milan wins another title. Manchester City leads the way in the Premier League. Levante is relegated in La Liga. Tottenham wins the North London derby.

 

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
There were no positional changes in the top four but Chelsea doubled the gap in points between themselves and Arsenal, while Tottenham closed in by moving a point away from Arsenal.
Arsenal remains in fourth place but they lost their comfort after a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham.
Leicester City replacing Crystal Palace at 10th place was the only positional change in the top half of the league standings.

A goalless draw at Watford did not do enough to help Everton’s ambitions to skip relegation.
A 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea did not help Leeds United’s target to get out of the relegation zone.

KEVIN DE BRUYNE’s MANCHESTER CITY KEEP THE THREE-POINT LEAD ON LIVERPOOL.
Liverpool escaped with a win yesterday so Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester City ensured no mistakes were made against Wolves.
Kevin De Bruyne scored 4 goals in a 5-1 win.

TOTTENHAM WINS THE NORTH LONDON DERBY
Harry Kane’s first-half brace and Heung-Min Son’s second-half opening goal led Tottenham to the three points through a victory in the North London derby.
The 3-0 win heats up the race for Champions League football in the final two rounds. Only a point separates Arsenal and Tottenham.

THE SPANISH LA LIGA AFTER THE 36th ROUND

LEVANTE BECOME THE FIRST OF THREE TO BE RELEGATED.
Vinicius Junior’s hat-trick helped Real Madrid relegate Levante with a 6-0 win.

There are two more rounds to go, and the traditional top three clubs have secured their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage. Sevilla is one win away from completing the list.

Sevilla was the only ‘top four’ side to not pick up a win after their third straight draw. Fortunately for them, Barcelona kept Real Betis from closing in.
Levante was relegated by Real Madrid in the final match of the round.

Mallorca could only pick up a point.
Granada’s win against Athletic Club moved them up a spot to 16th, while Cadiz moved down to 17th with a defeat to Real Sociedad.
Cadiz and Granada switched positions.

2022 COPPA ITALIA FINAL

JUVENTUS 2- 4 INTER MILAN [aet]

We had a Derby d’Italia for the final of the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana and for the 2022 Coppa Italia, and Inter Milan won both in extra time.

Inter Milan win the 8th Coppa Italia after over a decade since winning their 7th.

Ivan Perisic’s extra-time brace sealed a win for Inter Milan to win their first Coppa Italia since 2011.
Juventus came from a goal down to take a 2-1 lead but penalty calls allowed Inter Milan to regain the lead.
