THE ITALIAN SERIE A after Round 14.

 

Napoli wins their appeal to get a rescheduled match with Juventus.
Napoli’s successful appeal meant Juventus lost 5 points in Round 14, while Napoli ‘somewhat’ gained 3 points.
The Milan clubs lead the race with AC Milan edging Inter Milan by a point.
Roma moved up to third.
Napoli dropped two points against Torino but held on to 5th place.
Sassuolo joined the top 4 after a win at Sampdoria.
Atalanta dropped points against Bologna but held on to 7th because Lazio suffered a late defeat against AC Milan.

Benevento moved into the top half with a win against Udinese.

Torino finished the year at the bottom of the league after Genoa’s jumped from the bottom with a win against Spezia.

Crotone opened the round with the second win of the season; a 2-1 win at home against Parma
Juventus lost their first game of the season and it was on home grounds. A 3-0 hammering from Fiorentina.

The Milan teams lead the way.
Milan Skriniear restored Inter Milan’s lead in the 69th-minute to keep Inter a point away from the top.

Theo Hernandez saved the day with his late header for AC Milan to remain top of the Italian Serie A table. It looked like two points dropped and a drop in league position for AC Milan when they threw away a 2-goal lead at home to Lazio.

Luis Muriel scored a brace within a minute but Atalanta blew the 2-goal lead to settle for a point at Bologna. It’s three consecutive league draws for Bologna.

Lorenzo Insigne scored a late winning goal to save Napoli from a home defeat against Torino and avoid a 3rd-straight league defeat. For Torino, it’s now 8 league games without a win.

Roma bounced back from their defeat against Atalanta with one at home against Cagliari. Joao Pedro scored a brace but wasn’t enough to get anything out of the game against Roma. Gianluca Mancini’s insurance goal in the 77th-minute held on to give Roma the win at home.

Sampdoria’s win streak ends at two games.

Genoa won their first match in 13 league games. They picked up their second victory of the season after an away victory against Spezia.

Udinese suffered their first defeat in 7 games after a 2-0 home loss to Benevento. A back-to-back win for Benevento.

 

 

 

 

THE SPANISH LA LIGA after Round 15. 

 

 

Atletico Madrid has the advantage with games in hand but the Madrid teams lead the race in Spain.
Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are tied on 32 points after Round 15 of the 2020/21 La liga.
Real Scoriedad are stuck on 26 points and third place.
Real Sociedad and Villarreal dropped points to make way for Barcelona to narrow the gap between them and the top four down to a point.

Real Betis replaced Cadiz in the top half of the standings after a ‘1-0’ win.

Alaves shoots further away from the drop zone with a win against Eibar.
Eibar replaces Alaves in 17th.

Osasuna and Huesca picked up a point each but kept the place at the bottom end of the league table.

Elche came back from a goal down on two occasions to avoid opening the round with a defeat at home to Osasuna. It was a missed opportunity for Osasuna to win a game in their last 8 league matches.

Suso’s gaol in the 81st-minute handed Seviall a win in Valencia. Valencia haven’t had another win in the league since their 4-1 success against Real Madrid (6 games).

Three consecutive league defeats for Real Sociedad as Atletico Madrid grip on top spot tightened.

Lionel Messi set the new record for most goals scored by a player for a club. His 644th goal for FC Barcelona was the second insurance goal in Barcelona’s 3-0 win against Valladolid.

It was a 5th draw in their last 6 league games for Villarreal after coming from behind to secure a point at home against Athletic Club.

A ‘1-1’ draw against Getafe was how Celta Vigo dropped their first set of points dropped in the last 5 games.

Two second-half goals gave Real Madrid the win against Granada.

A lead in the first 4 minutes of the game didn’t stop Eibar from a successive league defeat. Alaves grabbed two late goals at the end of the first-half to come from behind to beat Eibar.

Cadiz have lost all their games since shocking Barcelona. They made it three defeats in a row after a 1-0 defeat against Real Betis.

 

 

 

 

 

THE FRENCH LIGUE 1 after Round 17 

 

Lyon and Lille are tied on points at the top of the French Ligue 1 standings but Lille used a sizable win to claim top spot.
Rennes replaces Marseill in the top 4.

Dijon picked up their second win of the season with an away victory against Nimes. Nimes end the year at the bare bottom of the league standings.
Dijon’s win means three teams are on 12 points at the bottom of the table. (Lorient, Nimes, and Dijon)

Marserialle suffered another defeat to go three league matches without a win in the league. Their 2-1 defeat to Angers also ended Angers’s winless streak of three games.

With Lille narrowly escaping Montpellier with a win, a 3-0′ win against Nantes took Lyon to the top of Ligue 1.

Burak Yilmaz scored the late winner in the 87th-minute for Lille to leave Montpellier with the points. The result wasn’t enough for Lille to keep their position at the top of the Ligue 1 standings.

THE QUATER FINALS OF THE EFL Cup

 

 

 

 

Brentford advanced to the semifinals of the EFL Cup after a 1-0 win against Newcastle.
Manchester City continue to defend their EFL Cup title after a 4-1 win against Arsenal.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring at Stoke, and Ben Davies and Harry Kane scored the goals to restore Totteham’s lead after Jordan Thospson even the score with the opening goal of the second half. Tottenham beat Stoke City 3-1 to advance to the semifinal of the EFL Cup.

Manchester United won it lafter with two goals in the final 2 minutes of the regulation time at Goodison Park. Edinson Cavani scored in the 88th-minute before Antony Martial secured the win in the 90th-minute for Manchester United beat Everton 2-0.

Brentford were the only side playing at home to win their quarter final match of the EFL Cup.
Arsenal, Stoke, and Everton were all on the losing end of the score at home.

There will be a Manchester derby for the semifinals, while Tottenham gets the best route to the final by playing host to Brentford.

Brentford will have little to lose; and that could give them the boost to gain it all when they play Tottenham in the semifinals.

ON TO THE ‘ROUND OF 16’ OF THE DFB-Pokal

 

FC Koln were the only side playing at home to win their match on Day 1 of the second round of the German Cup.

Hoffenhem are knocked out from the German Cup after a penalty shoot-out with Greuther Furth (2nd-tier).
Schalke ended their year with a win. It was against Ulm (4th-tier).
Union Berlin are knocked out from the German Cup by recently relegated Paderborn.
Mainz were knocked out of the German Cup at home after blowing a 2-goal lead against 2nd tier Bochum. Bochum scored their opening three goals in the penalty kick-off while Mainz did the exact opposite.

RW Essen (4th-tier) knocked out Fortuna Dusseldorf (2nd-tier).
Jahn Regensburg (2nd-tier) were winners after penalty kick offs against Wehen Wiesbaden (3rd tier).

Early goal Sasa Kalajdzic ended up the only goal of the match for Stuttgart to beat Freiburg.
RB Leipzig knocked Augsburg.

Werder Bremen knocked out Hannover (2nd tier) with a 3-0 win.
Wolfsburg knocked out Sandhausen (2nd tier) with a 4-0 win.
FC Koln knocked out Osnabrück (2nd tier) with a narrow 1-0 win.

PORTO ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE Portuguese Super Cup

 

 

Porto takes the Portuguese Super Cup crown from Benfica.

The two most successful teams in the cup’s history meet to challenge for the 2020 Portuguese Super Cup; and last season’s double winner came out on top.

Benfica have won 3 of the last 4 Super Cup finals, while Porto has won 1.
But it ended with Porto getint he win to pick up their 22nd title while Benfica were denied their 10th.
