Liverpool with a match in hand is running away with the Premier League title after 19th rounds of the 2019/20 season.

Thirteen points clear at the top, a game in hand, and all their closest rivals in the title race losing their games over the round. Life couldn’t get any better for Liverpool and their fans.

Liverpool is the only team in the top 4 that was on the winnings side. – Leicester City, Manchester City, and Chelsea were all beaten over this round.
Norwich falls back to the bottom of the league standings but the three residents of the relegation-zone from the previous round remain. (Aston Villa, Watford, Norwich)
Wolves moved up to 5th in the league, while Sheffield United fall down to 7th.

 

The round of games ended with Wolves putting a massive dent in City’s title challenge after clawing back from 2 goals pick up a win and complete a double against Manchester City.

Liverpool returns from winning the FIFA Club World Cup with a bang. A ‘4-0’ win on the road against Leicester City on Boxing Day could be the moment when Liverpool finally announced that there isn’t any contender in the 2019/20 Premier League title race. If the league wants to get ahead of schedule and make the order for the confetti and ribbons, the color option should be red

Despite failing to give Leicester a goal to celebrate in this round, Jamie Vardy stayed at the top of the goalscoring list with his 17 goals.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rises to second in the Golden Boot race with 12 goals after finding an equalizing goal for Arsenal against Bournemouth.

 

Tottenham had to fight for a win at home against Brighton. It was necessary to avoid back-to-back home defeat.
For Brighton, it is consecutive league defeat that stretched their winless run in the league to 4 matches.

Six matches without a victory for Norwich after the fell to a ‘1-0’ defeat against fellow newly-promoted side Aston Villa.

Arsenal’s first match under Mikel Arteta ended in a ‘1-1’ draw at Bournemouth. We will have to wait for the next few weeks to tell us if there has been some progress made by the managerial change.

From winning 2-0 away to Spurs, to losing at home to Southampton by the same score.
Chelsea suffered a consecutive defeat at home (and to a struggling side) after a Southampton picked up a goal in each half to leave Stamford Bridge with three points.
For Southampton, it was a consecutive win in the league; and a consecutive away victory.

Jordan Ayew struck in a late winning goal for Crystal Palace to turn the game against West Ham in their favor. It was Palace’s first win in 4 matches while West Ham returned to losing ways after their win against Southampton in the previous round.

Carlo Ancelotti kicks his managerial tenure at Everton with a home win against Burnley.
Everton is unbeaten in their last 4 league matches.

Relegation-zoned Watford held Sheffield United to a point after a ‘1-1’ draw at Bramall Lane.

Anthony Martial scored a brace as Manchester United came from a goal down to secure a ‘4-1’ win against Newcastle.
Matthew Longstaff opened the scoring for the match to give Newcastle a lead in the 17th minute.
Longstaff’s goal meant all his goals (2) in the Premier League have been against Manchester United.
Mason Greenwood’s 36th-minuted strike decided the match for the Red Devils.
