A late goal broke the hearts of Osasuna and their fans.

After getting their first win of the season in their away match at Eibar, Osasuna returned to their winless ways with a home defeat against Real Betis.

A late goal in additional time gave Real Betis a somewhat deserving away win over Osasuna. The win for Real Betis ended their first streak of defeats in the 2016/17 La Liga season.

If you can score three goals in a half, your opponent can do the same in another half.

 

After managing just one win in eight matches, going three goals down in the first half of the match looked like another loss for Espanyol.

 

Espanyol came from three goals down to get a draw that felt like a win to the home supporters.

 

Eibar dropped two points by throwing away a three-goal lead to leave Espanyol with a just a point.

Barcelona couldn’t afford to drop any more points at this early stage of the season. A late penalty allowed Lionel Messi to rescue Barcelona from dropping vital points to Valencia.

Barcelona had to come from behind to grab all three points away at Valencia side that was tactically prepared for the attacking threats of Barcelona.

 

Real Sociedad                   3-0                Alavés

As the season settles, newly promoted Deportivo Alaves are dropping down on the table.

Both teams started the match with equal points on the league table, but Real Sociedad got their fourth win in the league by defeating Alaves.

 

Granada                                 0-0          Sporting Gijon

 

A winless Granada side held Sporting Gijon to a goalless draw.  A draw that prevented Sporting Gijon from leaving the relegation zone.

After a ‘1-1’ draw in the first half, Iago Aspas scored a brace as Celta Vigo scored three second half goals to get a home win over Deportivo La Coruna.

 

Sevilla                            1-0                Atlético Madrid

Atletico Madrid suffered their first league defeat of the season in a match that would have kept them on top of the league table for another week.

A top of the league battle between Sevilla and Atletico Madrid ended in a victory for the home team.  Madrid also finished the match with fewer players after yellow cards in the second half had midfielder Koke sent off.

 

The win sends Sevilla to the top of the table.

Malaga moved from having a point below Leganes on the league table to two points above them with a ‘4-0’ home victory

Villarreal got another win to remain undefeated in the league.

Villarreal was able to take the maximum points from their home match against Las Palmas by grabbing a late goal in stoppage time.

It was a victory that keeps Villarreal in contention with the traditional top teams of the Primera Division (La Liga).
