EFL Cup – Semifinal
Three times in a row?

Manchester City reached the final for the third consecutive year and using their position in the Premier League as a reference, Manchester City is likely to win the EFL Cup for the third straight year.

Since the final four teams were all playing in the Premier League, many would have expected a Leicester City vs Manchester City final but Aston Villa grabbed a late goal to move on to the final at Leicester City’s expense.

In the other semifinal that had given us a Manchester derby, both Manchester giants picked up an away victory in the tie.
Manchester City picked up a bigger victory at Old Trafford to get to the final.

Coppa Italia – Quarter-final
The possibility of a Milan derby in the Coppa Italia final is alive.
Inter Milan and AC Milan joined Napoli and Juventus in the semifinals.

As expected in all of Italian football competitions, Juventus holds the record with 13 titles. Their most recent was in 2018.
Inter Milan has the record for the second most titles in the competitions history with 7 to their name; their latest coming in 2011.
It is fitting that the two sides met in the semifinals.

AC Milana and Napoli have 5 titles each to their name in this competitions. Napoli has won it most recently in 2014, while AC Milan will have to go back 17 years since the last time they won the Coppa Italia.
It is fitting that the two sides met in the semifinals.

Copa del Rey – Round of 16
2x winners Real Sociedad beat Osasuna to move to the quarter finals while Mirandes becomes the only Segunda side to reach the quarter finals.

Barcelona advances to chase their 31st Copa del Rey title after a convincing victory against Leganes.
Real Madrid also picked up a comfortable win on the road in their chase for title number 20.

For a chance to win their 24th title in the competition, Athletic Club had to go through penalties to pick up their quarter final ticket. Valencia had to use penalties to advance after a goalless draw at Leonesa. Valencia is chasing their 9th title in the competition.

The shocking result was saved for the last when 5-times winner Sevilla were knocked out by Segunda side Mirandes.

Coupe de France – Round of 16

Two 4th division teams (National 2) knocked out two first division sides (Ligue 1).
4th division side Epinal knocked out a Lille side that is within reach of a top four finish in the Ligue 1.

4th division side Belfort knocked of Montpellier in penalty kickoffs to advance to the quarterfinals.

It took extra time for Dijon to get around Limonest; a side from the 5th division.

Third division Pau took a respectable ‘2-0’ home defeat against the best team in the land.
Pau and Limonest were the two sides non-Ligue 1 sides to fail to reach the quarter finals.
