Napoli’s title defense season has been less than stellar, but they are not far from being a real contender for the league title. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s two goals helped Napoli secure a 3-1 win in Verona to recover from their home defeat to Fiorentina. Hellas Verona have now gone seven games without a win, losing five.

It took about an hour for Inter Milan to find the winning goal. Marcus Thuram opened the scoring in the 59th minute before Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu added their goals, allowing Inter Milan to secure a 3-0 win in Turin against Torino. Inter Milan let slip a two-goal lead at home to Bologna in their last match, drawing 2-2. A win in Turin was required to match expectations of their season.

Lazio followed their win against Atalanta with another victory against Sassuolo. A 2-0 first-half lead was enough for Lazio to secure three points.

Stephan El Shaarawy’s goal in the 90th minute secured a 1-0 victory for Roma over a Monza side that played with a numerical disadvantage for over half of the match. Danilo D’Ambrosio received two yellow cards by the 41st minute, making the situation even more challenging for Monza in Rome.

An exciting match ended with Salernitana and Cagliari sharing the points in a 2-2 draw. Boulaye Dia scored both goals for Salernitana, and both were equalizing goals. Both Salernitana and Cagliari were in search of their first league win of the season.

Juventus claimed three points in Milan with Manuel Locatelli’s goal in the 63rd minute.
Malick Thiaw received a red card in the 40th minute, leaving AC Milan to play the remainder of the game with a numerical disadvantage. With Inter Milan winning in Turin against Torino, AC Milan lost the top spot due to their defeat to Juventus. The result moved Juventus to within two points of the league leader.

Roberto Piccoli entered the game in the 77th minute and scored the equalizing goal for Lecce about six minutes later, denying Udinese their first league win of the season. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

It wasn’t what many would have predicted, but the relegation-threatened Empoli secured a 2-0 away win against Fiorentina, who were seeking points that would have placed them in the top 4 of the league standings. This 2-0 win marked Empoli’s second league victory and Fiorentina’s second league defeat.
