International Break is over and club football is returning with some ‘Weekend Bangers’ in Europe top leagues.

Keep these fixtures safe in your planner …

The International Break had more of our interest with the introduction of the UEFA Nations League but many fans couldn’t wait for the return of club football. The teams in the top European leagues have had a couple of matches under their belts and it time to see what direction these teams will take as the season lifts off.

September 14, 2018
Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt (German Bundesliga)
It wouldn’t be a start both teams would be looking to have in the 2018/19 Bundesliga if they drop points in consecutive league matches. If Borussia Dortmund intends on being the German Bundesliga contender to Bayern Munich, they will be needing to recover the points dropped in their goalless draw with Hannover 96 when Eintracht Frankfurt comes to town. Frankfurt is also in search for the result that will amend their home defeat to Werder Bremen.

Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen (German Bundesliga)
It is going to be a demanding task for Bayer Leverkusen to find their first victory/point against Bayern Munich. Bayer Leverkusen has suffered a 100% losing record in their opening two games of the season, while the defending champions are on a 100% winning start. This isn’t the fixture Leverkusen and their supporters are looking forward to at this moment in the season.

September 15, 2018
Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Schalke 04 (German Bundesliga)
Being amongst the pre-season title contenders in the German Bundesliga, Schalke wouldn’t want to make it three defeats in a row when they visit unbeaten Monchengladbach.

September 15, 2018
Wolfsburg vs Hertha Berlin (German Bundesliga)-
A perfect start is on the line for both sides.
Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin are part of the three teams with 100% winning record after two rounds of the German Bundesliga.

September 14, 2018
Paris St. Germain vs Saint-Etienne (French Ligue 1)
The defending champions will be welcoming the league title record holders when Saint-Etienne goes to Paris to attempt to be the first team to get point(s) from a Ligue 1 date with PSG. Both teams are undefeated, but PSG is the only one with a perfect winning record.

A realistic aim for Saint-Etienne is to get a point from a draw. This will keep them unbeaten while stopping PSG run of 100% winning start.

September 15, 2018
Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool (English Premier League)
Two league title contenders will be put to a test.
Liverpool will have their most difficult test to the Premier League season to date when they travel to face a Tottenham Hotspur side that will be in search of a victory to make up for their surprising defeat to Watford in their previous match. If there isn’t enough incentive for Tottenham to win at home, taking away the 100% start from Liverpool after losing theirs to Watford would surely console a Tottenham fan.

September 15, 2018
Watford vs Manchester United (English Premier League)
As things stand in the Premier League, Watford is overachieving while Manchester United is doing the opposite. Watford is currently doing the improbable by maintaining a 100% winning start after 4 rounds of the English Premier League, despite having some stiff competition in their most recent two league matches. Manchester United would be another major test for Watford to try and extend their winning run or remain unbeaten.

Watford found victory at home against a Tottenham Hotspur side that has beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford. If football was like math and can be done on paper, Watford is clearly winning this by a convincing margin of victory.

September 15, 2018
Real Sociedad vs Barcelona (Spanish La Liga)
Real Sociedad will be playing their first La Liga home match of the season.
100% start to their season and this fixture comes before Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League opener. Even though Sociedad is on a streak of winless matches, playing at the Anoeta Stadium has been a tricky place for Barcelona in recent history.

September 15, 2018
Athletic Club vs Real Madrid (Spanish La Liga)
Two teams undefeated in the league. Athletic Club has yet to lose at home and will be welcoming an undefeated Real Madrid.

September 16, 2018
Juventus vs Sassuolo (Italian Serie A)
Currently, the two teams with the most points accumulated in the Italian Serie A. Avoiding defeat and taking a point against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium will be a personal victory for Sassuolo.

September 16, 2018
Napoli vs Fiorentina (Italian Serie A)
A game in hand but Fiorentina is tied in points accumulated with Napoli. Napoli is coming from a defeat to Sampdoria.
