πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· Argentina ( 2 ) – ( 0 ) πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Canada
For the first time since 1995, Argentina are playing in the Copa America as the defending champions, and they started their title defense with a 2-0 win over Canada after a goalless opening half. Lionel Messi’s passes played a role in both of Argentina’s goals, although he failed to convert a couple of goalscoring opportunities himself. Julian Alvarez opened the scoring in the 49th minute. Lautaro Martinez, who came into the match in the 76th minute for Alvarez, scored the second goal of the game in the 88th minute.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¨ Ecuador ( 1 ) – ( 2 ) πŸ‡»πŸ‡ͺ Venezuela
Ecuador’s captain, Enner Valencia, was sent off for a reckless tackle in an attacking play in the 22nd minute, but that didn’t stop Ecuador from going into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead, with the goal coming from Jeremy Sarmiento in the 40th minute. However, playing with 10 men was always going to be a difficult task for Ecuador, as Venezuela used their numerical advantage in the second half by coming from behind to win 2-1. Jhonder Cadiz scored the equalizing goal in the 64th minute before Eduard Bello scored the winner ten minutes later. Both goalscorers entered the game at the start of the second half.

πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ Mexico ( 1 ) – ( 0 ) πŸ‡―πŸ‡² Jamaica
Left-back Gerardo Arteaga scored the only goal of the game in the 69th minute to hand Mexico a winning start to their Copa America tournament, beating Jamaica.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ United States ( 2 ) – ( 0 ) πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄ Bolivia
A ‘2-0’ lead at the end of the first half stood until the final whistle for the host nation, the United States, to kick off their tournament with a win over Bolivia. It was the ideal start to the game and their tournament, as Christian Pulisic curled in a shot from the edge of the penalty box to open the scoring before three minutes had passed. Pulisic then went on to assist Folarin Balogun, who doubled the lead by scoring in the 44th minute.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Ύ Uruguay ( 3 ) – ( 1 ) πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¦ Panama
Michael Murillo’s goal in the 5th minute of added time denied Uruguay the clean sheet, but they still started their Copa America tournament with a 3-1 victory over Panama. Maximiliano Araujo opened the scoring in the 16th minute, giving Uruguay a lead that lasted most of the match until Darwin Nunez doubled it in the 86th minute.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΄ Colombia ( 2 ) – ( 1 ) πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Ύ Paraguay
A two-goal lead in the first half was enough for Colombia to start their Copa America tournament with an important win against Paraguay. James Rodriguez assisted both goals for Colombia, the first for Daniel Munoz in the 32nd minute and the second for Jefferson Lerma 10 minutes later. Julio Enciso scored in the 62nd minute, halving Colombia’s lead, but his side couldn’t find the equalizer.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡· Brazil ( 0 ) – ( 0 ) πŸ‡¨πŸ‡· Costa Rica (copa america)
Brazil being dominant against Costa Rica was expected, as much as a win. However, despite their dominance, Brazil’s Copa America tournament started with a goalless draw with Costa Rica.

The second round of the group stage games:

Argentina is looking to double their win. Chile, Peru, and Canada are all seeking their first win, but Canada is looking to recover from a defeat. Peru takes on Canada, while Chile faces Argentina.

Jamaica and Ecuador will both be looking to recover from defeat in their opening game in Group B, while Venezuela and Mexico will be looking to double the win.

Bolivia and Panama are looking for results to bounce back from their opening round defeats in the Copa America, and it doesn’t get easier as they will both be facing giants from their confederation. Bolivia will be up against Uruguay, while Panama takes on the United States. Uruguay and the United States will be looking to double their wins in Group C before facing each other in the last match of the group.

Costa Rica will look to put up the same effort they used to earn a goalless draw against Brazil when they face a Colombian side aiming to double their win in Group D. Brazil and Paraguay will both be looking for their first win in Group D. Paraguay hopes to recover from their defeat against Colombia, while Brazil aims to make amends for the points dropped against Costa Rica.
