How are the defending champions and the newly-promoted are adjusting to the new season in Europe’s Top 5 leagues.

Things are going as expected for the defending champions and the newly-promoted clubs in Europe’s top 5 league. The defending champions are looking like teams that are going to give a good contest to keep their title, while the majority of the newly-promoted teams are picking up points where they can.

The DEFENDING CHAMPS.

The defending champions from Europe’s top 5 leagues are all unbeaten in the domestic league but Real Madrid is the only one with a perfect winning record.
Real Madrid has also played the fewest round of matches (4).
Paris St. Germain has dropped points in 1 draw out of the 6 rounds played of the French Ligue 1 season.
Manchester City have dropped points in 2 draws out of the 6 rounds played in the English Premier League.
Bayern Munich (German Bundesliga) and AC Milan (Italian Serie A) have each played 5 rounds and dropped points in 2 draws.

The NEWLY-PROMOTED CLUBS.

Werder Bremen (German Bundesliga), Fulham (English Premier League), Auxerre (French Ligue 1), Girona (Spanish La Liga), and Lecce (Italian Serie A) are the best-performing newly-promoted sides in their league.

None of the newly-promoted teams in Europe’s top-5 leagues are unbeaten but Werder Bremen (German Bundesliga) has the fewest defeats (1).

Monza (Italian Serie A) is the only newly-promoted club in Europe’s top-5 leagues yet to accumulate a point. Monza has lost 5 out of their opening 5 matches, scoring twice and conceding 13 goals.

Bournemouth has conceded the most goals (18) and has the worst goal difference (-13).
Nottingham Forest is next on the list of most goals conceded (14) before Monza (13), but Monza is second on the list of the worst goal-difference (-11), before Nottingham Forest (-10).

No surprise the best performing club has scored the most goals. Werder Bremen has 12 goals but conceded 10. That (+2) goal difference is the best out of the bunch.

Girona has the second best goal-difference (0) despite also being on the list of teams that have scored the fewest goals (4) this season.

Monza and Valladolid have scored the fewest times (2) each.

Ajaccio, Schalke, Lecce, Cremonese, and Monza are the newly promoted clubs in Europe’s top 5 leagues without a win.
