The defending champions and current league leaders didn’t have much to afford dropping points away at Freiburg.

On the return of the German Bundesliga, Robert Lewandowski was the hero for Bayern Munich. Lewandowski scored a brace – a leveler and a late winner.

A late goal ensured that Schalke returned to Bundesliga with a victory.  Despite their positions on the league table, this was a well-contested affair.

Hoffenheim remains the only team yet to be beaten in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season.  An away victory over Augsburg extended this run.

Borussia Dortmund didn’t need Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to get an away victory over a 10-man Werder Bremen side.

The victory keeps Dortmund at twelve points behind Bayern Munich.

Bottom table Darmstadt was able to hold Borussia Monchengladbach to a goalless draw.

With Bayern Munich getting a victory from their match a day before, the only good result for RB Leipzig was a victory.  And they did just that.

A dominant performance from RB Leipzig gave the team a result that opened a 10-point gap between them and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayer Leverkusen returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga after defeating Hertha Berlin to close the gap between the two teams down to six points.

There was no winner between Mainz 05 and FC Koln.  

FC Koln maintained their five-point lead over Mainz 05 in the league standings.
