Paris Saint-Germain dropped more points in their bid to defend their league title.  And again, it was against the balance of play.  

 

Guingamp moved 7 points away from PSG with the help of two second-half goals and the backing of the home crowd.

There were three goals scored in the second half, but not enough scored by the home team.

 

Bastia secured the maximum points away at Rennes.  It was a Bastia victory that helps the team avoid the threat of relegation and a Rennes defeat that denied the team a chance to improve their odds of finishing in a European qualification spot.

A penalty was awarded in the first half for both teams to get a goal, but Mario Balotelli’s second have poacher’s goal was what gave OGC Nice a very important home victory that opens up the lead at the top of the league standings.

A ‘10-man’ Monaco team was defeated at home by Lyon.  

 

The defeat denied Monaco the chance to close up on OGC Nice at the top of the table and to take advantage of the Paris Saint-Germain’s slip to Guingamp.

 

With a game in hand, this victory puts Lyon five points behind Paris Saint-Germain.

 

Things are heating up, and everything seems to be working in favor of OGC Nice.
