French Ligue 1 after Round 8 – While the competitions are taking turns in ‘tripping up’, Paris St. Germain are staying on course by keeping a winning start.

Paris St. Germain has stayed perfect for 8 rounds and are top of the table by 9 points as things stand.
Marseille and Nice are part of the ‘top four’ with a game in hand.
Lens is second to the top but still within reach (3 points) of about 5 other teams.

Brest and Saint-Etienne are the two teams without a win after 8 rounds played. They take up the bottom two spots in the league standings; with Saint-Etienne at the bare bottom.

Lorient and Lyon moved down a position after sharing the points in a draw. Lorient to 6th and Lyon to 7th.

SAINT-ETIENNE 0-3 NICE
Nice followed up consecutive matches without a victory with a 3-0 victory against a Saint-Etienne side that remain without a win since the start of the season

STRASBOURG 1-2 LILLE
Jonathan David’s brace allowed for the reigning champion to win a back-to-back Ligue 1 match for the first time in the new season.

PARIS ST. GERMAIN 2- 0 MONTPELLIER
Julian Brander doubled the lead with his first touch in the 88th minute for PSG.
Paris St. Germain made it 8 wins from 8 without conceding a goal against Montpellier.

LYON 1- 1 LORIENT
Lyon had to play with 10 men from the 14th minute after Emerson got a red card booking. The best a 10-man Lyon could do at home was a point against Lorient.

CLERMONT FOOT 1- 3 MONACO
After starting the season with two wins and staying unbeaten in their first four matches, newly-promoted Clermont foot has suffered three defeats in the last four. A defeat to Monaco is the latest for Clermont Foot

MARSEILLE 2- 3 LENS
Lens bounced back from defeat against Strasbourg. Dimitri Payet scored two goals to get Mars idle from two
goals down to even the score before the end of the first
half but Wesley said came into the game in the 63rd
minute to score the only goal of the second half in the
71st minute to get Lens an away victory.

RIEMS 3- 1 NANTES
Hugo Ekitike’s two goals got Riems their second win of the season; allowing them to equal Nantes in points accumulated in the standings.

BREST 1-2 METZ
Metz won their first match of the season to keep Brest without a win.

TROYES 1-1 ANGERS
Angers fall further down the standings after four straight matches without a win. [3. draws and a defeat].
