MEN’S FOOTBALL AT THE OLYMPICS AFTER THE GROUP STAGE:
🇫🇷 France, 🇯🇵 Japan, 🇳🇿 New Zealand, 🇪🇸 Spain, and 🇺🇸 United States are in the men’s and women’s tournaments. Both the men’s and women’s New Zealand teams ended their tournament in the group stage. The other four nations have both teams in the quarterfinals. They are joined by 🇦🇷 Argentina, 🇲🇦 Morocco, 🇪🇬 Egypt, and 🇵🇾 Paraguay in the quarter final of the men’s tournament, and by 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇧🇷 Brazil, 🇨🇦 Canada, and 🇨🇴 Colombia in the quarter final of the women’s tournament.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL AT THE OLYMPICS AFTER THE GROUP STAGE:
The gold medal has only skipped North America on two occasions, with Norway and Germany being the winners in those years. The North American teams, Canada and the United States, are both in the quarterfinals. Canada has a gold medal to defend, while the United States will look to get their fourth gold medal. Germany aims to reclaim the gold medal, but they will face competition from Europe, with Spain, Germany, and France. Japan will fight to represent Asia, while Colombia will hope to do the same for South America. The two African teams (Nigeria and Zambia) and the two Australasian teams (Australia and New Zealand) are out.
