MEN’S FOOTBALL – ROUND ONE
Mexico 4- 1 France
Japan 1-0 South Africa
New Zealand 1-0 South Korea
Honduras 0-1 Romania
Egypt 0-0 Spain
Argentina 0-2 Australia

All five goals were scored in the second half of the Mexico vs France match. Unfortunately for France, only 20% of the goals were theirs.
Mexico thrashed France 4 goals to 1.

Japan did what host nations are expected to do. They kicked off the tournament with a 1- 0 win over South Africa.

New Zealand and Australia were both winners in their respective matches.
New Zealand were 1-0 winners against South Korea, while Australia were 2- 0 winners against Argentina.

Spain and Egypt played out a goalless draw, Romania won 1-0 against Honduras, and Ivory Coast won 2-1 against Saudi Arabia thanks to a goal from Franck Kessie.

Richarlison opened the match with a hattrick that carried Brazil to a 4-2 victory against Germany.
Germany could not get revenge for the defeat they suffered against Brazil in the final of the previous tournament. They made things interesting in the final 10 minutes when they moved a goal away from getting even on the score. In the end, Brazil ended up with a late goal in the additional minutes to end with a comfortable win.
It could’ve been a 4-0 lead for Brazil at the end of the first half. Matheus Cunha missed a penalty to stop that from happening.

In the next round, Egypt will take on a defeated Argentina, and a defeated France will look to bounce back against South Africa.
Brazil and Ivory Coast will go for their second win.
Australia will aim for win#2 when they face Spain; in search of win #1.
Japan will be tested by Mexico, while South Korea will be tested by Romania. The Germans will want to get back to contention with a win against Saudi Arabia.
