Chelsea keeps top spot while Mancehster United dropped out of the ‘top 4’. The English Premier League after Round 8.

PREMIER LEAGUE


Manchester United dropped out of the ‘top 4’ after being the only team in there to suffer a defeat over the round.
The other three (Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City) added three points to their tally.
It was against the run of play but Chelsea got the three points to stay top of the league after eight rounds.
Liverpool thrashed Wolves to stay a point from the top, while Manchester City kept it tidy with a win against Burnley.
A point picked up from a draw with Norwich City allowed them to replace Manchester United in the top 4.
Tottenham used a win against Newcastle to move up two positions to 5th.
Manchester United is 6th and equal on points with 7th place Everton. Both teams were on the losing end of the score in this round.
Brentford deserved more than they got from their performance against Chelsea. Brentford dropped two positions down to 9th.
Leicester City moved up two positions to lead the bottom half of the league standings.

Arsenal escaped defeat but finished 12th on the table.

Norwich remained bottom of the standing despite being the only team in the relegation zone to add points to their tally.


Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) are the top scorers with 7 goals each.

WATFORD 0-5 LIVERPOOL
Liverpool dominated the game as expected.
Roberto Firmino scored a hattrick in Liverpool’s win against Watford.

Aston VILLA 2- 3 WOLVES
Three goals after the 80th minute brought Wolves to 3 points.
Wolves came from two goals down to win away against Aston Villa.

LEICESTER CITY 4-2 MANCHESTER UNITED
Leicester City made up for the points dropped against Crystal Palace with a win at home against Manchester United.
Mason Greenwood opened the scoring in the 19th minute to get Manchester United on the front foot, and that was the only time Manchester United had a lead in this fixture.
Jamie Vardy’s 7th league goal of the season won the three points for Leicester City.

MANCHESTER CITY 2- 0 BURNLEY
Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne scored the goals to get Manchester City the win that kept Burnley without a win after eight rounds.

SOUTHAMPTON 1- 0 LEEDS UNITED
Armando Broja’s goal in the 53rd minute sealed the first win of the season for Southampton. The victory allowed them to move a point above Leeds in the standings.

BRENTFORD 0-1 CHELSEA
Chelsea survived the Brentford test with an undeserved. 1- 0 win, thanks to the goalkeeping heroics of Edward Mendy.

EVERTON 0-1 WEST HAM
West Ham used a win at Goodison Park to bounce back from defeat against Brentford. Angelo Ogbonna’s goal in the 74th minute was the difference.
The result put West Ham even on points and ahead in the league standings.

NEWCASTLE 2-3 TOTTENHAM
An early lead for Newcastle did not last. At the end of the opening half, Tottenham was up 3-1 and did not need additional goals in the second half to win.
