It was another exciting match involving Borussia Dortmund, and it was another win for the club.  It was a victory that keeps them 3 points behind the heels of Bayern Munich.

Maximilian Philipp scored in the 60th minute to cut Borussia Dortmund’s lead in half after Aubameyang and Piszczek had given the team a 2-0 lead.

Raphael Guerreiro’s 90th-minute goal for Dortmund ensured that there won’t be any late drama.

Looking at their form at the start of the season, there was no surprise about the end result of this match.

Borussia Monchengladbach continued the winless start to Ingolstadt season by beating them 2-0.

Mainz 05 suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

Javier Hernandez scored a hattrick to give Bayer Leverkusen an away win at Mainz 05. It was what Bayer Leverkusen needed after failing to beat Augsburg at home in their previous match, a match they had open opportunities to take three points.

The win brought Leverkusen level on points with Mainz in the league standings.

 

Hamburger SV               0-1              Bayern Munich

It was looking like the Bayern Munich was going to drop points for the first time in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season.  Great goalkeeping from Hamburger’s goalkeeper Rene Adler kept Bayern from a goal until the last minute of regulation time.

A brilliant play from Franck Ribery on one side of the goal opened up space on the other side of the goal for Joshua Kimmich to run onto a cutback pass/cross and give Bayern a goal that gave them all the three points.

Hamburger SV remains winless after five matches, and it was their fourth loss in a row.

 

Augsburg                           1-0         Darmstadt

Augsburg beat a 10 man Darmstadt team in the second half to get all three points.

 

Eintracht Frankfurt                          3-3                          Hertha Berlin

It was a six-goal thriller between Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin met.

The away side (Hertha Berlin) was first to grab a goal through a penalty in the 19th minute but found themselves a goal behind at the end of the first half.

The second half saw Hertha Berlin come from a goal behind to take the lead. Alexander Esswein 65th minute goal was looking like the winner for Berlin until Michael Hector scored a late goal to give Frankfurt a point at home.

 

They had equal points on the league table, and couldn’t find a goal that could separate them.

 

Werder Bremen                  2-1          Wolfsburg

Werder Bremen had to come from a goal down at home to finally get a win in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season.  It took two late goals to change Werder Bremen’s destiny.

After losing all four of their Bundesliga matches this season, going down a goal through an own goal made it look like it was destiny for Werder Bremen to make it five losses in a row.

Undefeated Hoffenheim got their first win of the season by extending Schalke’s losing streak to five matches.

Five matches later, Schalke has managed to get zero points on the league table. They sit at the bottom of the table, being outscored ten goals to two.  

 

In their recent defeat, Schalke  got an early goal after just four minutes of play against Hoffenheim. By the end of the first half, Schalke found themselves in a familiar position by being  behind. The two goals scored by Hoffenheim before the half was how the home team won the match.

It will take a special performance for Schalke to win their next Bundesliga match. They play at home against Borussia Monchengladbach.  

 

FC Köln                       1-1            RB Leipzig

FC Koln and RB Leipzig played out a 1-1 draw. Both teams remain undefeated after five matches in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season.

Because of the mood swings that futbol can give us in a day, we are not too critical within 24hrs of a crushing defeat to any side.
