Bosnia and Herzegovina’s World Cup Overview

Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Dragons) in Brazil……..

They will be the only team to be making their debut in the Fifa World Cup competition. Bosnia and Herzegovina became a Fifa member in 1996, but they’ve been part of the Yugoslavian national team until its break up.Bosnia-Herzegovina's national team playe

They enter the competition through direct qualification from the UEFA. With a 8-1-1 (W-D-L) record,  they finished above Greece because of how clinical they were in front of goal. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not our typical star studded team. The cohesiveness in their game play is what gives this team an advantage over most.

The Venom

Edin Dzeko is the star attraction and the target man om this team.  The Manchester City forward will be expected to use is physical advantage,  as well as his precision to guide Bosnia and Herzegovina into the knock-out stage.

Vedad Ibišević will be another striker on hand for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Control and Support

We look to the Serie A side, AS Roma to find Miralem Pjanić. He will be the thermostat for the team’s morale. Along with Pjanic will be other midfield key players like Sejad Salihović, Haris Medunjanin and Senad Lulić. All these players will have exceptional impact on the performance from the midfield area.

The Bouncers

Their ability to restrict the number of goals that was score against them is the reason they qualified directly into the competition. The captain, Emir Spahić will be in charge of the back line. As a veteran on the team, his experience keeps Bosnia and Herzegovnia from conceding a lot of goals.

There is also Sead Kolašinac and Ervin Zukanović to observe in the back line.

So what is it for Bosnia and Herzegovina?  How will they fare?

Since this will be their debut in the competition,  they have in a way exceeded their previous accomplishment in the Fifa World Cup.

It is time to watch and see what benchmark this team will leave in the competition.

The odds of getting out of this group might be depending on how well they play against the current African champions, Nigeria. A result from Nigeria and Iran would tremendously boost their odds in advancing from Group F.

Iran might also prove to be a tough team to crack. After all the Iranians will be coming from playing Argentina and Nigeria by the time they meet with Bosnia and Herzegovina. That might sharpen the Iranian defence.

But this is futbol, there will be some drama, suspense and surprises.  And that is why we will have to be watching to see if Bosnia and Herzegovina will make their advantage count.
