After 5 rounds into the Ligue 1 season.

Rennes beat Saint-Etienne to take the top spot in the league.
Saint-Etienne falls from the top to 4th after their first defeat.

Montpellier holds on to 3rd place with just a point.
A late penalty allowed Monpellier to save a point against Dijon.

Monaco moved up to 5th with a narrow win.
Even with the numerical disadvantage of having two players sent off on a red card, Monaco was able to hold on and pick up 3 more points with a 3-2 win against Strasbourg.

Paris St. Germain is creeping up. 4 points from the top.
Paris St. Germain put a string of wins together after a 2-0 win at Reims. Mauro Icardi was the only goal scorer in the game.

Lyon dropped more points after a ‘1-1’ draw at Lorient.
3 draws isn’t helping Lyon’s cause at the moment, but they moved up from 12th to 11th in the standings.

Strasbourg, Reims, and Dijon stayed bottom three; with bottom table Dijon the only side to pick up a point.

Lile took three points against Nantes through a late own goal in the first half and a late goal from the penalty spot in the second.

Morgan Sanson salvaged a point for Marseille with a goal deep into additional time. Marsielle shared the points with Metz.

Bordeaux shares a point with Nice in a goalless draw.

Angers came from behind to beat Brest to a 3-2 win.

Newly-promoted Lens picked up a point against Nimes.

Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Sevilla kicked off their season with three points.

Despite both teams suffering a defeat over the round, Real Betis and Granada currently lead the title race on 6 points.

The round began with a goalless draw between Alaves and Getafe.

Valencia and Huesca shae the point after a 1-1 draw.

Real Socieded leap to 3rd after handing Elche a defeat in their opening match of the season.
Real Sociedad found three second-half goals to grab three points against newly promoted Elche.

Real Madrid uses a late penalty to beat Real Betis. As expected, Sergio Ramos was Real Madrid’s scorer.

Levante came from behind to beat Osasuna by 3 goals to 1.

Unai Lopez’s brase won it for Athletic Club against Eibar. Lopez had to score to give and to then to restore the lead for Athletic Club to win against Eibar.

Granada suffered their first defeat after getting a hammering from Atletico Madrid.
Luis Suarez scored two and assisted one goal in Atletico Madrid’s impressive 6-1 victory against Granada.

Sevilla handed Cadiz a defeat. Sevilla came from a goal down to get a win in their first league match of the season.

Ansu Fati opened the scoring for Koeman’s era. Fati scored Barcelona’s opening goals in the 4-0 season opener win against Villarreal.

 

German Bundesliga – Hoffenheim shocked the defending champions. Bayern is beated 4-1.

Augsburg tagged along with Hoffenheim after beating the second best team in Germany.

Frankfurt picked up three points at Berlin.

Arminia Bielefeld win 1-0 in Cologne.

First shocking result of the round was Dortmund getting ‘2-0’ beaten in Augsburg.

RB Leipzig share the points with Leverkusen.

Borussia Monchengladbach share the points with Union Berlin.

Stuttgart came from an early goal down to beat Mainz by 4 goals to 1.

Werder Bremen picked up a comfortable win against Schalke.

The biggest shock of the round was Bayern Munich’s beating at Hoffenheim. The result and the scoreline was unexpected. (4-1)

Frieburg and Wolfsburg share the point in the final match of the round.

Liverpool is right behind Leicester after taking down another London team.
Both Manchester teams are on three points with a game in hand.

Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester City, and Liverpool are the teams with a perfect start.

Everton got the bigger portion of the three goals scored in the first half to stay perfect while handing Crystal Palace their first defeat of the season. Richarlison scored a penalty in the 40th-minute to restore Everton’s lead and made it another three points.

Chelsea fought back to rescue a point after going three goals down in the opening half. Pre-season expectations will see it as points dropped for Chelsea, but West Brom will be kicking themselves for losing a three goal lead within 45 minutes.

Danny Ings’s early goal in the 5th-minute gave Southampton a win at Burnley.

Leeds United picked up another three points after beating Sheffield United. Patrick Bamford’s 88th-minute goal gave Leeds United another win since their opening day defeat against the defending champions.

Late penalty (handball) allowed Newcastle to leave London with a point against Tottenham.

Leicester City earned top spot after demolishing Manchester City.
Had Vardy stayed on the field a little longer, he might have finished the game with 4 goals (3 penalties). The shock of the round was seeing Manchester City hammered 5-goals at home. Jamie Vary scored three goals as Leicester City came from an early goal down to pick up a 5-2 win at the Etihad Stadium.

The next shocking result of the round was Wolves getting trashed in London by West Ham.

Fulham stayed consistent and made it 3 defeats in three matches, after a 3-0 defeat at home to fellow promoted side Aston Villa. Fulham have conceded 10 goals and scored an average on a goal a game in their opening 3 matches. They rightfully sit at the bottom of the league table.

Arsenal ends their winning run with a defeat at Liverpool.
Liverpool passed another test by beating another London outfit. Liverpool quickly came from a goal down to go into the half with a 2-1 lead. Newly signed Diogo Jota came from the bench and scored the only goal of the second-half to make it a 3-1 win for Liverpool against Arsenal.

Nothing is between Juvenuts and Sassuolo

Sampdoria blew a 2-goal lead to lose against newly-promoted Benevento.

Franck Ribery played a great game to help Fiorentina to a lead his side couldn’t keep. Inter Milan crawled back from two goals behind to win 4-3 against Fiorentina. The result allowed inter Milan to start their season with a win.

Newly-promoted Spezia a beaten 4-1 in their opening match of the season by Sassuolo.

Andrea Failli scored the only goal of the match for Hellas Verona to get a win at home against Udinese.

Napoli dropped 6 on Genoa.

No Zlatan, No problem. AC Milan found the winning goals against Crotone.

Jordan Veretout and Cristiano Ronaldo both scored a brace that included a goal from the penalty spot. Veretout did it for Roma, Cristinao did it for Juventus. Roma and Juventus both pick up a point.

Roberto Soriano scored a brace as Genoa got their first win of the season through a 4-1 win against Parma.
