As things stand in the English Premier League.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Arsenal tightened their grip on the title with a win against Leeds United, but Liverpool couldn’t do them any additional favors.

Many pre-season predictions would’ve predicted a two-horse race between Manchester City and Liverpool but this is far from what we had this season.
Manchester City found the results to keep alive their hope of defending the league title, while Liverpool will continue working on their chances of qualifying for a continental cup competition in the coming season.

Chelsea and Aston Villa were on equal points after 27 rounds played.
Aston Villa left Stamford Bridge with 3 points better after 28 rounds played.

West Ham and Southampton will play each other for the points to help their relegation battles. West Ham won 1-0.

Using the backing of their home support, Newcastle United beat Manchester United to make amends for the defeat in the League Cup final.
Finishing in the ‘top four’ remains the target for both teams.

Manchester City has a game in hand, while Arsenal enjoys an 8-point lead in the title race with 9 more games left of their season.
Newcastle beat Manchester United to move into 3rd place, while Manchester United fell two positions down to 5th after Tottenham picked up a point against Everton.
Defeat against Manchester City dropped Liverpool two positions down to 8th.
Brighton and Brentford shared the points in a ‘3-3’ draw to move up a position; Brighton to 6th, Brentford to 7th.
Aston Villa moved into the top half of the league table from 11th.

Leicester City and Leeds United join Southampton in the relegation zone.
West Ham and Bournemouth moved out of the relegation zone with wins against Southampton and Fulham (respectively).

After coming from a goal down to take a ‘1-1’ draw into the break, Manchester City quickly took the lead after the restart (in the first minute of the second half) to win three points at home through a 3-goal difference against Liverpool. Mohamed Salah got his goal but Liverpool did what we’ve come to expect from them this season.

Arsenal followed their ‘4-1’ win over Crystal Palace with a ‘4-1’ win against Leeds United. Judging by their league position, this was expected.
Leeds United is back to a defeat after their dramatic 4-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last round.

Brighton had to come from a goal down on three occasions to go 4 league matches unbeaten with a 3-3 draw at home against Brentford. Alexis Mac Allister converted a 90th-minute penalty to get Brighton a deserved point.

An own goal and a late winning goal took Leicester City from a winning position to a losing one. Ricardo Pereira gave Leicester City a lead in the 56th minute that lasted just about 3 minutes.
Crystal Palace’s first win in 14 matches (13 league matches. 8 defeats/7 league defeats). Leicester City is without a win in their last 7 matches (6 league games:6 defeats/5 league defeats).

A clinical Aston Villa left Stamford Bridge with three points after a 2-0 win over Chelsea. It was the first league defeat in 4 matches for Chelsea; a short run of good results.
Aston Villa is unbeaten in their last 5 matches: 4wins.

Newcastle picked up a deserved ‘2-0’ win against Manchester United.
