GROUP A
CAPE VERDE 1-1 CAMEROON
Cameroon couldn’t win Group A with a perfect winning record but Vincent Abubakar scored in every group match
Cape Verde needed something from this match to give them a chance of advancing. A point after a goal down against the host nation is deemed a success.

BURKINA FASO 1-1 ETHIOPIA
The bright side for Ethiopia is that they picked up a point before getting eliminated.

GROUP B
MALAWI 0-0 SENEGAL
ZIMBABWE 2-1 GUINEA
Senegal won group B by a point.
Zimbabwe’s win against Guinea meant every side in the group had a win to their name.

GROUP C

GABON 2-2 MOROCCO
GHANA 2-3 COMOROS

Morocco and Gabon shared the points to remain the top two in Group C.

Comoros earned their first-ever victory in the Africa Cup of Nations to knock out Ghana in a 5-goal thriller.
In other words, Ghana has been knocked out of the tournament by a debutant.
The last time Ghana failed to advance from their group or win a single game in the tournament was 2006.
For additional context, only Egypt and Cameroon have won more titles than Ghana. Granted it’s been 40 years since their last title.
Ghana finished the first half a goal down and a man down after Andre Ayew was booked a straight red in the 25th minute.

GROUP D
GUINEA BISSAU 0-2 NIGERIA
EGYPT 1- 0 SUDAN

Nigeria didn’t need the result to advance but goals in the second half secured an additional three points.
NIGERIA IS THE ONLY TEAM ADVANCING WITH A PERFECT WINNING RECORD, while Egypt got a second win in the group to take second place.
Sudan and Guinea-Bissau exit the tournament without a win but a point from each other.

GROUP E
THE HOLDERS ARE OUT
Algeria exited the competition at the bottom of the group without a win from a group that included Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone.
Algeria needed a win from an Ivorian team that needed a win to win the group.
IVORY COAST 3-1 ALGERIA

A well-executed free kick routine got Equatorial Guinea the winning goal against Sierra Leone.
SIERRA LEONE 0-1 EQUATORIAL GUINEA
Kei Ansa Kamara had his penalty saved in the 85th minute. It would’ve been a goal to advance Sierra Leone.

GROUP F
GAMBIA 1- 0 TUNISIA
The first half ended with Tunisia missing a penalty a minute into the additional minutes and went down a man three minutes into the additional minutes.
Seifeddine Jaziri missed the penalty.
Farouk Ben Mustapha got the booking.

Allie Jallow scored his second goal of the tournament.
Jallow’s first goal was early in the match [10th minute], while this goal arrived in the third minute of the final added minutes.
On both occasions, Jallow’s goal has been the only goal of the match.

MALI 2- 0 MAURITANIA
Mali wins the group to keep Mauritania winless/pointless.
