Domestic Leagues

About a quarter into the 2016/17 Premier League season.

After Leicester City did the improbable and won the league in the 2015/16 season, the traditional heavyweights in the Premier League did their business over the summer to make sure Leicester City does not do a repeat and defend the league title. So far it looks to be working, as Leicester City is sitting thirteen spots away from the top of the table.

We can’t see Leicester defending their league title this year.

In the six

Most, if not all the pre-season favorites are part of the current top six teams in the Premier League standings. With the arrivals of renowned managers into the league, and with the signing of top players for incredible amounts, we expect the winner of the 2016/17 Premier League to go through a tough battle to arrive at the league title.

Liverpool tops the league after 11 matches. A point separates Liverpool from the rest of the pack.

After 11 rounds of the Premier League, Tottenham remains the only team that is yet to suffer a defeat. Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool have all suffered a single defeat so far.

Inside the Eighteen

Sunderland, Swansea City, and Hull City complete the teams in the relegation zone.

Sunderland and Swansea have just managed a win after eleven rounds of the 2016/17 Premier League. Both teams have had managerial changes in the season. We wait to see how their season pans out for the two.

How are the newly-promoted teams adjusting?

Hull City is the only promoted side that is currently in the relegation zone. Middlesbrough might be relegation threatened, but goal difference has kept them away.

Burnley is doing their bit to remain relevant in the league. They are the newly-promoted side that is having the healthiest season, sitting in the top half of the league standings at 9th.

A ‘Manchester Derby’ win for Manchester City at Old Trafford

Who might be in for a thrilling season?

West Ham United was one of the silent pre-season favorites. They started the season with lots of renewed hope.

A new stadium with a new logo and new belief the team was going to be part of the best side of the league table for most of the season.

At the moment, West Ham United is relegation threatened, and have managed to lose more than half the matches they played (6 losses).  The talent it there to make a move upwards. The facility it there to play in big competitions. West Ham has all it take to write a memorable story for the 2016/17 Premier League season. It could be the one that fans would like to read about, or it could be something that will cause calamity.
