2019/20 English Premier League – Round 14 – Liverpool’s strongest competitions are drop points in the title race

Liverpool is 8 points clear at the top of the league table after 14 rounds of the 2019/20 season.

On paper, their closest competition (Manchester City and Chelsea) dropped points in this round.

Chelsea lost to London rivals West Ham, and Manchester City failed to secure a victory against Newcastle United.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) scored in Leicester City’s ‘2-1’ victory against Everton. Vardy leads the scoring list with 13 goals.

Pierre-Emerich Aubameyang(Arsenal) scored to goals against Norwich to become the third player to have double-digit goals in the season. (10 goals).

Watford is at the bottom of the league with just a win all season.

Manchester City is pinned back after dropping points at the St. James Park.
It didn’t take too long for Newcastle to equalize on both occasions when Manchester City took the lead.

Crystal Palace ended a run of 5-winless run without a victory by getting a road win against Crystal Palace while ending Burnley’s short winning streak at two.

West Ham gets a victory at Stamford Bridge.
Aaron Cresswell scored the only goal of the match to kick off a losing streak in the league for a Chelsea side that had gone 6 straight matches without defeat in the Premier League.

Virgil van Dijk scored both of Liverpool’s goals in their victory against Brighton.
Alisson Becker was sent off for Liverpool to end the final 15 minutes of the match with a numerical disadvantage.

Once again, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham gets a victory but failed to keep a clean sheet.
Dele Alli opened the scoring for the match with two goals.

Southampton comes from behind with two late goals to beat Watford.
It was a ‘2-1’ win for Southampton when the two struggling teams met.

New management but identical results for Arsenal.
Arsenal came from a goal down on two occasions to get a point against Norwich.

Sheffield United gets a point from a ‘1-1’ draw with Wolves.
Matt Doherty’s equalizing goal in the 64th-minute ensured that Wolves remain above Sheffield United in the league standings.

Iheanacho comes in and helps Leicester City stretch their winning streak in the league to 6 matches with a victory against Everton.
Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to assist the equalizing goal and then score the winning goal in the final minutes of additional time.

Manchester United couldn’t secure a win at home against newly-promoted Aston Villa.
A ‘2-2’ draw against Aston Villa made is consecutive matches in the league that Manchester United came from behind to take a lead they couldn’t protect till the end of the match.
