Dortmund failed to clinched qualification to the knock-out stage after suffering defeat to Atletico Madrid, while Monaco’s winless run continued when Club Brugge ended their 13-year wait for a Champions League group victory with an emphatic 4-0 away victory to officially kill any hope of Monaco advancing to the next round. Monaco was down 3 goals before the break,

A ‘Lionel Messi’-less Barcelona side has been able to pull their weight and grab the ideal result to be the first team to advance to the second round of the competition.

Harry Kane ended PSV’s Champions League dreams.
Harry Kane revived Tottenham’s ambitions in the competition when he scored the goals to bring Tottenham Hotspur from a goal down against PSV Eindhoven to a home victory.

Maybe it wasn’t a fluke when Red Star Belgrade managed to get a point in their opening home game against Napoli.
Milan Pavkov was the sole goalscorer as Red Star Belgrade blew ‘Group C’ wide open after beating Liverpool. It wasn’t what many fans would have expected from a Liverpool side that seemed to have figured out their attacking formula very early in the season.
Napoli and PSG played out another draw. This time around, Napoli was the home team that came from a losing position to earn a point.

Porto stays on top of the table after beating Lokomotiv Moscow. The ‘4-1’ result ended Lokomotiv Moscow’s run in the competition.
An early goal allowed Schalke to grab maximum points and widen the gap between themselves and Galatasaray.

Robert Lewandowski scored both of Bayern Munich goals to eliminate the possibility of AEK Athen advancing to the second round.

Dusan Tadic scored a vital goal for Ajax to secure a point away against Benfica. The ‘1-1’ draw denied Benfica from cutting into Ajax 4-point lead.

A questionable penalty allowed Gabriel Jesus to score a hat-trick in Manchester City’s thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk.

Hoffenheim avoided elimination and denied Manchester City from advancing from the group.
They had to do it with a man down but Hoffenheim found another late goal to get a point against Lyon.

The away teams got the maximum points to stay level on points at the top of the group
Karim Benzema scored two goals as Real Madrid gets on top of the group after hammering Viktoria Plzen.

Lorenzo Pellegrini scores the winning goal for Roma to win and stay level on points with Real Madrid.

Before Ashley Young’s cross into Juventus penalty box ended up in the back of the net as a Juventus own-goal, Juan Mata scored a brilliant freekick to bring Manchester United level.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the competition for Juventus to take a second-half lead but it was Manchester United that took home the maximum points with a win from two late goal.

Santi Mina contributed two goals to Valencia’s 3-1 win against Young Boys.
Valencia beat Young Boys to get their first win in the group to keep the race in ‘Group H’ open.
