Getafe wiped out Alaves’s hope of ending the round in among the top for in the league. Getafe striking partners shared the 4 goals evenly. Jaime Mata and Jorge Molina scored two goals to see their team close in on Alaves in the league standings to just a point.

Real Madrid passed a big test against Sevilla. Casemiro’s strike in the 78th minute broke the deadlock and handed Real Madrid the three points they needed to move up to third in the league standings. Sevilla is now beating in their last three matches.

Atletico Madrid did the expected by beating bottom table Huesca.

Despite a first-half lead, Celta Vigo sits at the edge of relegation after falling at home to Valencia.
Real Betis wins their first match of the year thanks to Sergio Canales goal from a late penalty against Huesca.

Athletic Club shared the points with relegation-zoned Villarreal

Real Sociedad shared the points with relegation-zoned Rayo Vallecano

A clinical Levante wins at home in an evenly contested match against Real Valladolid

Ousamane Dembele guided Barcelona to a first-half lead, but Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi had to come from the bench to stop Barcelona from dropping points at home to a Leganes side that had taken a victory from them in the reversed fixture. Both Suarez and Messi added a goal to their tally in the league.

Eibar wins their first competitive match in 8 games after a 3-0 win against Espanyol. The victory allowed Eibar to leap-from Espanyol by a point in the league.
