2018/19 German Bundesliga – Round 3 – Schalke’s struggles extends after another defeat

 

Three matches into the season, 7 undefeated sides with 5 teams are trailing defending champions Bayern Munich by 2 points. Schalke 04 have had a terrible start to their season, while RB Leipzig might be finding their way back into contention.

It is too early to make any accurate predictions of the final standings, but Bayern Munich being favorites to keep the title is remains the highest probability if all the things that can happen this season.

A late penalty restored Fortuna Dusseldorf lead and handed them their first league victory since promotion in a ‘2-1’ victory over Hoffenheim.

Augsburg suffered a ‘2-1’ away defeat after failing to hold on to an 82-minute lead against Mainz 05.

RB Leipzig is finally victorious. Timo Werner scored two goals in RB Leipzig 3-2 win over Hannover 96. Both Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin scored a goal each in injury time to take a point each after a thrilling ‘2-2’ draw.

Breel Embolo’s goal came late as his Schalke 04 side suffered their third straight defeat in the opening rounds after falling ‘2-1’ away to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Newly-promoted Nurnberg secured their second point of the season through an injury-time equalizer against Werder Bremen.

It was back and forth between Freiburg and Stuttgart as both teams shared 6 goals evenly, with Mario Gomez (Stuttgart) and Jerome Gondorf (Freiburg) each scoring a brace. to end the third round of the 2018/19 German Bundesliga.
