Napoli maintained their seat at the top of the league table by convincingly picking up a ‘4-1’ away victory over Lazio. Mario Mandzukic’s second-half goal against Fiorentina made sure that Juventus did not fall behind as Napoli picked up three points.
While Napoli and Juventus were able to get victories in their respective fixtures in Round 5 of the Italian Serie A, Inter Milan failed to grab the maximum points in their away fixture against Bologna. The results left Napoli and Juventus as the only two teams in the league to have won all matches so far. However, Inter Milan, Torino and Sampdoria remain undefeated after five matches.
In the relegation zone, Hellas Verona picked up their second point of the season through a goalless home draw against Sampdoria. The remaining two teams (Crotone and Benevento) were hammered in their respective fixtures.
