As for the defending champions Bayern Munich, they’ve had better starts to a season. Despite a 2-goal lead, Bayern Munich had to settle for a point at home against Wolfsburg. A 2-2 final score allowed Borussia Dortmund to open a three-point gap on the defending champions. And with Hoffenheim beating Schalke 04, Bayern drops to third in the Bundesliga standings.
Bayer Leverkusen was able to use home advantage to climb above Hamburger SV in the league standings. Kevin Volland scored a brace in the 3-0 victory. Hannover 96 remains undefeated after a draw against FC Koln. Hannover and Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund remain as the teams that are yet to suffer defeat.
