2017/18 Spanish La Liga – Round 37 – Barcelona is finally defeated

 

The title is decided. ‘Top four’ is decided. Relegation is decided.

Undefeated streak snapped.
With only a game left to end the season, FC Barcelona suffered their first league defeat of the season. Barcelona’s undefeated run can to an end against Levante in a 9-goal thriller that saw Barcelona trailing by 4 goals at the within the first 15 minutes of the second-half. Levante’s Emmanuel Boateng contributed a hat-trick to his team’s shocking victory. It really could have been an embarrassing end to Barcelona’s title-winning season, but Philippe Coutinho played a key role to clean up the mess. Coutinho’s three goals helped Barcelona end their undefeated run with a ‘respectable’ scoreline. Lionel Messi’s absence might have cost Barcelona.

Real Madrid were big winners in their final home match of the season. Gareth Bale was instrumental in Madrid ‘6-0’ win against Celta Vigo.

Koke’s early goal against Getafe helped Atletico Madrid to keep hold of the second-place position in the league standings.

A ‘2-2’ draw against Sevilla has secured Europa League football for Real Betis.
