Valencia comfortably saw off Alaves to help secure a ‘top four’ finish. Atletico Madrid conceded a late goal against Villarreal to suffer a defeat that dragged them 11-points away from the top of the league standings, while local rival Real Madrid was inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo to a 6-3 victory against Girona to move 4 points away from Atletico Madrid in the league.

In a 9-goal thriller, Cristiano Ronaldo scored four of the 6 goals in Real Madrid’s home win against newly-promoted Girona. Those 4 goals put Cristiano right in back in the race for a ‘Pichichi’.

Lionel Messi scored his 25th goal of the season as Barcelona continues to be undefeated and extended their unbeaten run in the league to 36 matches after beating Athletic Club.
