Barcelona and Real Madrid were big winners
FC Barcelona wins ‘big’ and remains undefeated in the league, while their closest competitor slipped. Atletico Madrid dropped points at home to recently-promoted Girona, allowing Barcelona to widen the gap at the top of the league with 5 second-half goals against Real Betis. Lionel Messi was integral in Barcelona’s victory and added two goals to his tally as the league top scorer.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid were also big winners. Real Madrid came from a goal down to trash Deportivo La Coruna to a ‘7-1’ score. Nacho Fernandez, Gareth Bale, and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace in this victory.
Fortunately for Atletico Madrid, they didn’t receive the full punishment for the points dropped to Girona, as Valencia suffered a shock defeat to relegation-zoned Las Palmas.
