Italian Serie A

2017/18 Italian Serie A – Round 28 – Napoli drops points at San Siro and falls from the top of the table.

Serie A returned with tributes to Fiorentina’s Davide Astori. Fiorentina claimed a ‘1-0’ home victory over Benevento to honor their fallen captain. The team warmed-up in Astori’s number 13 jersey and paused the match on the 13th minute for everyone in the stadium to honor Astori. The winning goal was scored just about 10 minutes later.

Roma made it a consecutive league victory in the league after getting three second-half goals to hand Torino a defeat. Hellas Verona helped their fight to stay in the top flight by making it a back-to-back league victory with a ‘1-0’ home victory over Chievo Verona.

Crotone needed the ‘4-1’ victory they had over Sampdoria to end a 5-match winless streak that included 2 losses in their most recent matches while helping their fight to avoid relegation to Serie B.

Juventus is in the driver’s seat in the Serie A title race for the first time since the third round of the 2017/18 Italian Serie A season.

Juventus is yet to concede a league goal in 2018 calendar year and has a game in hand to widen the gap at the top of the league.

Ciro Immobile scored his 24th goal of the season to salvage an away point for Lazio against Cagliari.

AC Milan remains undefeated in the season this calendar year after grabbing the victory at Genoa through a late injury-time goal from Andre Silva. Milan has now won their last four league matches without conceding a goal.
