French Ligue1

2017/18 French Ligue 1 – Round 37 – Monaco takes advantage of slips in the top four, while Strasbourg shockingly secured safety.

The order of the ‘top-four’ is still undecided and the race for Champions League football for next season continues with Lyon, Monaco, and Marseille.
Round 37 started off with Marseille dropping points to Guingamp, despite taking a two-goal league in the first 15 minutes. The ‘3-3’ draw denied Marseille the opportunity to move up from fourth place in the league standings.

Paris St. Germain in a new kit and ready to celebrate their title in front of their home fans, suffered defeat at home to Rennes. Two second-half goals handed PSG their first home defeat in the 2017/18 Ligue 1 season.

With just a game left in the season, Lyon loses the 2nd place and direct qualification to the Champions League to Monaco.
Strasbourg did the improbable by winning against Lyon.
Two late goals handed Strasbourg a home victory to secure their place in the Ligue 1 for the coming season. While the result helped Strasbourg secure safety in Ligue 1, it cost Lyon their place in the league after Monaco picked up maximum points against Saint-Etienne through a late penalty.

Troyes, Toulouse, Caen will be fighting to avoid relegation on the final day.
After a ‘1-1’ draw with Montpellier, the best Troyes can do on the final day of the season is to finish in the relegation-playoff spot by grabbing a victory and hope Toulouse fails to do the same. Toulouse will be needing to end a 3-match losing streak with a victory on the final day of the season to guarantee a relegation-playoff finish. A Caen defeat on the final day will help Toulouse get safety without going through play-offs.
