2017/18 English Premier League – Round 28 – Romelu Lukaku shines against his former club as Manchester United defeats Chelsea

 

A ‘4-1’ hammering by Brighton & Hove Albion was Swansea City’s first defeat after going 10 matches (5 league games) without.

Newcastle United had to settle for a point in an away fixture against AFC Bournemouth after conceding two goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation time to blow a two-goal lead at the half.

Mohamed Salah added another goal (23) to his collection at Liverpool when he scored the winning goal when his team welcomed West Ham United. The match finished a comfortable ‘4-1’ victory for the home team.

Manolo Gabbiadini scored late to help Southampton avoid defeat at Burnley. West Bromwich suffered their fourth league defeat in a row when Huddersfield town came to visit and took the maximum points through two early second-half goals.

Watford defeated Everton to move a point away from them in the league standings.

Harry Kane scored a late winning goal for Tottenham Hotspur to take all three points from their away match against Crystal Palace. It was Kane’s 24th goal and a goal that makes his the outright top scorer in the league.

In the big match of the round and the weekend, Manchester United come from a goal down to claim a home victory over Chelsea, and maintained their position in the league standings while sending Chelsea out of the top four. Romelu Lukaku scored the equalizing goal and assisted the winning goal for his current club to beat his former club.

Arsenal and Manchester City will make up their match on Thursday, March 1, 2018
