2017/18 English Premier League – Round 12 – Pogba revives Manchester United

Twelve rounds into the 2017/18 English Premier League and Manchester City remain on top of the league standings by extended their undefeated run with a victory at Leicester City.

David Moyes started his managerial duties at West Ham United with an away defeat against Watford. A goal in each half was enough to end Watford’s three-match losing streak in the league and hand West Ham United a consecutive defeat.

Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to football from injury and saw Manchester United come from behind to convincingly beat Newcastle United. It was a match that made a loud statement about the importance of Paul Pogba to Manchester United’s attack.

With the North London derby being an exception, this was a round that saw the expected teams get the expected result.

North London is RED – Arsenal pulled out a great performance to take a home win in the North London derby against an in-form Tottenham Hotspur side that came into the competition as anything but not a favorite. Two quick first-half goals gave Arsenal an advantage that Tottenham couldn’t recover. The result dragged Tottenham out of the ‘Top 3’ in the league and puts Arsenal just a point away from equaling points accumulated by Tottenham.

Crystal Palace and Everton played out a ‘2-2’ draw, despite both teams being in need of a victory to match their pre-season expectations. Liverpool and Chelsea picked up big margin victories against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion respectively. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah scored a brace to climb up to the top of the goalscoring list with 9 goals
